Web Design
At ScandiumWeb we hold one rule above all others, and all design and style stems from satisfying it:

Form must follow function: The site must work and achieve its goal, first and foremost. There are plenty of sites around that look visually great and have flashy effects but often once you try to use the site you realise it's difficult to find what you're looking for and those flashy effects just get on your nerves... Worst of all, some of these sites are almost invisible to Search Engines!
It is completely possible to create a site that it beautiful, functional and can be read prefectly by Search Engines. You can read more about that on our SEO page.
At the heart of most of our websites is our CMS (Content Management Syslem) that has some massive advantages over it competitors. It has been designed to easy to use. In an effort to make that a reality some of it's biggest advantages seemed to stem naturally
Unlike most CMS's, ours uses a True WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Editor. This means that instead of jumbling a generic-styled editor in with the sites back-end configuration pages we have linked our editor into the front-end of the site, allowing you to work on the content exactly as it will appear, with the editor controls appearing in a floating module (pictured right).
When you edit a page this module will appear and allow you maximum control over the content with minimum effort. Infact we believe after the short time it takes to get familiar with it you'll find it easier to use than 'Word' or you're equivelent word processor software.
Another great feature of our CMS is it's 'Drag & Drop' menu systems. For such a simple method of use it's also amazingly powerful, allowing multiple custom menus and sub-menu layers.
The list of innovative features just goes on and on...
Other than our CMS we use HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript and Flash™ to create our sites. Unlike some designers we use Flash sparingly to enhance a site and not as the sites backbone.
One place where we do see the use of Flash™ as being advantageous is in Virtual Tours - here it's benefits can be clearly seen and none of its weaknesses are exploited.
